Admission to USTSV is granted based upon an applicant’s previous academic performance, technical background, professional experience, and extracurricular, social and personal qualities. All students can expect to be held to a high standard of academic excellence, aptitude in mathematics, science, and commitment to the program curriculum.

We recommend that prospective students submit applications as soon as possible so the admissions staff can provide any necessary guidance through the admissions process. While some programs admit students on a rolling basis, other programs have admissions deadlines as detailed below.

Online Applications

Applicants whose native language is not English may be asked to submit evidence of English proficiency on any given application. Please visit Admission Policy for more information.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score (master’s degree) of 500 for paper based, or 71 for iBT Internet based.
  • A transcript verifying completion of at least 30 semester hours of credit with an average grade of “C” or higher at an appropriately accredited college or university where the language of instruction was English; “B” or higher for master’s degree.
  • A transcript verifying a grade of “C” or higher in an English composition course from an appropriately accredited/recognized college or university; “B” or higher for master’s degree.

Students who have completed their undergraduate degrees at a nationally or regionally accredited U.S. college or university are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
