New to Silicon Valley? USTSV Student Services furnishes information regarding transportation, general costs of childcare and housing, points of interest and much more. We’re here to help USTSV students make the most of their experience, bringing together places, professionals and programs to support your wellness and success inside and outside the classroom.

During your time at USTSV, you will be provided with an ID card that must be worn at all times while on campus. Students without an ID card will not be permitted to access any of USTSV’s facilities and resources.

The Department of Student Services offers assistance with personal and interpersonal issues such as relationships, cultural differences, assertiveness, and self-esteem. We offer guidance in finding professional counselors, coping with student life, academic performance, test anxiety, and determining life goals. Students are encouraged to seek assistance in dealing with any barriers to success while attending USTSV.

At USTSV, we encourage collaboration and teamwork. Live or virtual group study is incorporated when compatible with the field of study, enabling students to share ideas and methods of learning.

USTSV students are provided access to an extensive network of research databases to provide you with the most thorough and current research material available on a variety of topics. We encourage students to not only absorb knowledge in a classroom setting, but also pursue independent research and utilize the resources available through our library system.

Our Director of Library services is available during office hours for 5-10 hours weekly and on call virtually to provide assistance with the University’s website and library resources.

At USTSV, we believe that academic advising and counseling are key components in the education process. Our faculty members serve as mentors and coaches as students navigate their education at USTSV.

Online registration is available; however, students are welcome to meet with faculty members before and during course registration each semester. During these meetings, faculty will discuss your study plan and academic records, verify course pre-requisites, and recommend suitable courses for which you should enroll. Academic advising is also available throughout the school year. Faculty advisors will also encourage you to explore academic options and ways to meet your personal and professional goals as you work toward a new career.

Students at USTSV may be contacted for academic counseling if the following occurs:

  1. Faculty advisors notify the Chief Academic Officer and Director of Student Services that there are concerns about a student’s performance at any point during the semester
  2. A student exhibits a poor class attendance record
  3. A student is placed on academic probation

The records for students, including a transcript of academic progress, are kept in files maintained in fireproof cabinets for a period of 5 years from the student's date of completion or withdrawal. These records contain information to show student advancement, grades, and that satisfactory standards were enforced relating to progress and performance.

Hard copies are kept in the Department of Student Services office. Virtually, a daily backup is made and stored on an off-site server, equipped with a backup and recovery system.

USTSV is required to maintain student records for a minimum of 5 years while student transcripts will be maintained indefinitely and made immediately available during normal business hours. The following information for each student will include the following:

  • The names and addresses, both local and home, of each of its students;
  • The courses of study offered by the institution;
  • The names and addresses of its instructional staff, together with a record of the educational qualifications of each, and;
  • The diplomas granted, the date of granting, together with the curricula upon which the diplomas were based.

USTSV will supply one (1) official transcript upon graduation. Requests for additional transcripts must be made in writing and signed by the student. There is a $15.00 charge for each transcript requested. For transcripts mailed outside of the U.S., there is an additional shipping fee of $50.00. Students requesting release of academic records and transcripts to employers or other groups or agencies must sign an authorization request.

From time to time, differences in interpretation of University policies will arise among students, faculty, and/or the administration. When such differences arise, we urge students and staff to communicate any problems that arise directly to the individual(s) involved. If the problem cannot be resolved in this manner, the University administration should be contacted. Normally, the informal procedure of discussing the difference will resolve the problem.

Any student who feels that he or she has been subjected to unfair treatment by the University by any of its employees, entities, policies, procedures or programs may report the matter in writing to the Chief Executive Officer for review and action. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is located in the administrative location of USTSV and is open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. On making the complaint, the student will be advised of the next step, depending on the nature of the complaint.

The first step would be to attempt to resolve the complaint informally. If the complaint is resolved satisfactorily to all parties concerned the case shall be closed, with a written notice to that effect sent to the complainant and the respondent.
